SEPULTURA - MACHINE MESSIAH

2018 marca vinte anos que Derrick Green está no Sepultura e que também foi lançado "Against", o primeiro álbum com o vocalista. "Machine Messiah" foi lançado no início de 2017 é o novo e oitavo álbum com Derrick e o segundo com o baterista Eloy Casagrande. Bem, as duas primeiras faixas que escutei desse disco foram "I Am The Enemy" (som mais puxado pro hardcore) e "Phantom Self" (o início da faixa lembra Nação Zumbi e com letra/clipe baseados em uma sociedade distópica robótica) e eu gostei desses sons. Pois então, como já foi dito sobre "Phantom Self", a temática de "Machine Messiah" gira em torno de distopia, robotização da sociedade, escravos da máquina e revolta, na qual uma associação com Black Mirror (série de TV) vem a calhar. Musicalmente, a Sepultura neste registro ainda usa um pouco de experimentalismo mesclando com o thrash metal, groove, hardcore e até metal progressivo como na faixa instrumental "Iceberg Dances", mas também de elementos sinfônicos semelhantes aos usados em "A-Lex". Ah é, assim como a Ratos de Porão no passado, a Sepultura toca "Ultraseven No Uta", música tema do seriado de TV japonês Ultra Seven. Com relação a capa, muitas pessoas falaram que se parece com arte de "Arise", mas não tem nada ver, apenas as patas de caranguejo, só isso. "Deus ex Machina" é o nome dessa arte que foi feita por Camille Della Rosa, artista surrealista das Filipinas, na qual lembra bastante capas de álbuns de bandas de rock progressivo e psicodélico. Pra terminar, "Machine Messiah" é um álbum bacana, sendo o melhor dessa formação.

2018 marks twenty years that Derrick Green has been in Sepultura and also since "Against" was released, the first album with the vocalist. "Machine Messiah", released in early 2017, is the newest and eighth album with Derrick and the second with drummer Eloy Casagrande. Well, the first two tracks I listened to on this record were "I Am The Enemy" (typical hardcore song) and "Phantom Self" (the beginning of the track recalls Nação Zumbi and lyrics/clip based on a robotic dystopic society) and I liked those songs. Right, as I already said about "Phantom Self", the theme of "Machine Messiah" revolves around dystopia, robotization of society, machine slaves and revolt, in which an association with Black Mirror (TV series) comes to mind. Musically, Sepultura in this record still uses a bit of experimentalism a mix of thrash metal, groove, hardcore and even progressive metal like in the instrumental track "Icebergs Dances", but also symphonic elements similar to those used in "A-Lex". Oh yeah, as well as Ratos de Porão in the past, Sepultura plays "Ultraseven No Uta", a theme song from the Japanese TV series Ultra Seven. Regarding the cover, many people said that it looks like "Arise", but I don't see this similarity, just the crabs legs. "Deus ex Machina" is the name of this art that was made by Camille Della Rosa, a surrealist artist from the Philippines and this is reminiscent of album covers of progressive and psychedelic rock bands. To finish, "Machine Messiah" is a good album and the best record of this line-up.
