Before this album was released, major magazines and international sites said that Samael would return to their roots, that the guys would play that macabre, primitive and visceral black metal again like in the first three albums that are excellent ("Blood Ritual" is a of the best albums of all time). To be honest, I did not believe this news and I already imagined that "Hegemony" would follow the second wave of music developed by Samael more than twenty years ago, when the band released "Passage" in 1996. Well, "Hegemony" is an industrial metal album with cyberpunk, futuristic, gothic elements that at certain moments in the record sound like symphonic metal bands and this may appeal to those who enjoy symphonic black metal due to keyboards and orchestrations. I say that "Hegemony" is an album as cool as the previous "Lux Mundi" and that the best song of this new record is "Black Supremacy" (the clip is also very good). Anyway, music for nightlife indoors.
