WOLFPACK - HELLHOUND WARPIG [EP]

A primeira vez que vi essa imagem (a capa do EP) foi através do Fredrik Andersson em uma matéria sobre a Marduk na extinta revista MetalHead. Ele estava usando essa camiseta e como eu gosto de Marduk, eu imaginei que a banda seria foda também. Enquanto não conhecia essa banda, eu apenas desenhava esse tribal no meu caderno. Corri atrás de material por um bom tempo e finalmente eu escutei "Hellhound Warpig", EP lançado pela Wolfpack em 1997. Em 2017 "Hellhound Warpig" completa 20 anos e digo que esse registro tem o mesmo poder de impacto em meus ouvidos de quando eu escutei isso pela primeira vez. Composto por cinco faixas poderosas, cheias de fúria e energia, esse registro é simplesmente um dos pilares do crustcore feito no final dos anos 90 (aliás, da cena crust como um todo), com grande destaque para as brilhantes guitarras com timbre death metal sueco (eu senti isso de cara) e os vocais infernais de Tomas Jonsson (Anti Cimex). Com essa fórmula explosiva, a Wolfpack criou um jeito único e exclusivo de tocar crustcore, ou seja, a banda deu outra dimensão e concepção para o submundo do crust punk e esse registro é um dos grandes responsáveis disso. Altamente viciante, "Hellhound Warpig" é de suma importância e é sem dúvida uma grande referência para este cenário. Isso merece ser escutado sempre, pois esse EP é excelente e essencial. The first time I saw this image (the cover art of the EP) was through Fredrik Andersson in a article about Marduk in an extinct Brazilian magazine called MetalHead. He was wearing this shirt and since I like Marduk, I figured this band could be good too. While I did not know this band, I just drew this tribal symbol in my school notebook. I searched for a long time to find some material of theirs and finally I listened to "Hellhound Warpig", EP released by Wolfpack in 1997. In 2017 "Hellhound Warpig" completes 20 years of its release and today I say that this record has the same power of impact to my ears from when I first heard it. Composed of five powerful tracks, full of fury and energy, this record is simply one of the pillars of crustcore made in the late 90s (in fact, of the crust scene as a whole), with a great emphasis on the brilliant guitars similar to Swedish death metal (the first great impression) and the infernal vocals of Tomas Jonsson (Anti Cimex). With this explosive formula, Wolfpack has created a unique and exclusive way of playing crustcore, that is, the band has given another dimension and conception to the underworld of crust punk and this record is one of the main things responsible for that. Highly addictive, "Hellhound Warpig" is of paramount importance and is undoubtedly a great reference for this scenario. This deserves to be heard all the time, because this EP is excellent and essential. Timeless, congratulations!
