DISGUSTED GEIST - REIGN OF ENTHRALLMENT

Disgusted Geist é uma nova banda californiana e "Reign of Enthrallment" é o primeiro álbum deles lançado em 2018. Bem, eles tocam death/doom metal e a atmosfera que envolve as seis faixas que compõem o álbum é muito pesada e sinistra. Sem dúvida, Disgusted Geist é uma das bandas mais interessantes que escutei em 2018. Muito bom!

Disgusted Geist is a new Californian band and "Reign of Enthrallment" is their first album released in 2018. Well, they play death/doom metal and the atmosphere surrounding the six tracks that make up the album is very heavy and sinister. Undoubtedly, Disgusted Geist is one of the most interesting bands I've heard in 2018. Very good!

É inegável falar de música pesada, podre e barulhenta brasileira sem citar Belo Horizonte, pico de bandas consagradas no cenário como Sepultura, Sarcófago, Holocausto, Atack Epiléptico e muitas outras. Dessa mesma cidade e com mais de uma década de existência, vem a Expurgo, uma máquina assassina de voracidade extrema de fazer barulho. Com diversos lançamentos (uma demo e vários splits) ao longo desses anos, "Deformed By Law" é o segundo álbum da Expurgo que foi lançado em 2018 e está matador! "Deformed By Law" segue a linha de poder de destruição do primeiro e incrível álbum "Burial Ground" de 2010, conduto os caras estão mais experientes e sapientes, na qual resultou em um álbum único e desgraçado. Obviamente, as características marcantes da Expurgo estão intactas como a agressividade, a pancadaria, a rapidez, a sujeira, o peso e a energia, além dos dois tipos de vocais. Das vinte e sete faixas de "Deformed By Law", devo destacar tanto o conteúdo lírico como sonoro destes sons: "Victimized", "Inhale Radiation Fumes", "Dead As Fuck", "Xenon Pieces Swallowed", "In Tastes Of Human Toxicity", "Discurso Do Cadafalso", "Classic Utopia Of A Junkie Ambience", "All Substances Are Toxic Under The Right Conditions", "Habemus Cannis", "Morgue Despair", "Lungs Decay", "Devil Variation", "Harmless Scares", "Atmosphere Of Horror", "Deploring Connections", "Global Suppuration", "On The Edge" e "Obsolescence". Com relação a capa que é um magnífico e horripilante trabalho de Pedro Felipe (Ars Moriendee), a imagem nos faz lembrar da lenda urbana americana Edward Mordrake e de acordo com Egon, ele explica: "Quisemos representar com essa capa a dimensão de como as leis podem nos manipular ao ponto de nos desfigurar, nos deformar. Aí a questão que fica é: a quem de fato servem as leis, as instituições e todo o aparato econômico e jurídico que aí está? Ou seja, a ilustração serve mesmo como uma provocação, pra inquietar mesmo.". A partir dessa ideia exposta e das letras, você está ciente do que se trata o grindcore feito pela Expurgo. Em suma, uma das mais importantes bandas underground brasileiras fez um dos melhores álbuns de 2018. Fodido até o talo! Expurgo: Anderson (bateria), Philipe (guitarra e vocal), Egon (vocal) e Sérgio Vilhena (baixo). 

It is undeniable to speak of rotten, noisy and heavy music in Brazil without mentioning Belo Horizonte, city of consecrated bands such as Sepultura, Sarcófago, Holocausto, Atack Epiléptico and many others. From that same city and with more than a decade of existence, was born Expurgo, a murderous machine of extreme voracity to make noise. With several releases (one demo and several splits) over the years, "Deformed By Law" is Expurgo's second album that was released in 2018 and it's killer! "Deformed By Law" follows the power line of destruction of the first and incredible album "Burial Ground" of 2010, so now they are more experienced, which resulted in a unique and badass album. Obviously, the striking characteristics of Expurgo are intact like aggression, blast beats, speed, dirt, heavy and full of energy, as well as the two types of vocals. Of the twenty-seven tracks of "Deformed By Law", I must highlight both the lyrical and sonorous content of these tracks: "Victimized", "Inhale Radiation Fumes", "Dead As Fuck", "Xenon Pieces Swallowed", "In Tastes Of Human Toxicity", "Discurso Do Cadafalso", "Classic Utopia Of A Junkie Ambience", "All Substances Are Toxic Under The Right Comdictions", "Habemus Cannis", "Morgue Despair", "Lungs Decay", "Devil Variation", "Harmless Scares", "Atmosphere Of Horror", "Deploring Connections", "Global Suppuration", "On The Edge" and "Obsolescence". Regarding the cover that is a magnificent and horrifying work done by Pedro Felipe (Ars Moriendee), the image reminds me of the American urban legend Edward Mordrake and according to Egon, he explains: "We wanted to represent with this cover the dimension of how laws can manipulate us to the point of disfiguring us, deforming us. Then the question remains: who do the laws, institutions, and all the economic and legal apparatus that serve there? is it? That is, the illustration serves even as a provocation, to really disturb.". From this exposed idea and the lyrics of the songs, you are aware of what the grindcore performed by Expurgo is. In short, one of the most important Brazilian underground bands made one of the best albums of 2018. This is fucking great! Este registro é composto por quinze diarreias (faixas), onde a catinga reina. "Defecation Domination" é um álbum que soa mais death metal, diferente de "Anal Barbeque" que é goregrind. 

They threw shit on the fan and the excrement is going all over the room, damn it !!! This is the feeling when listening to "Defecation Domination" an album released by I Shit On Your Face in 2013. This record is composed of fifteen diarrhea (tracks), where foul smells reign. "Defecation Domination" is an album that sounds more death metal, different from "Anal Barbeque" that is goregrind.

A Usurpress é uma banda sueca fundada em 2010 e "Interregnum" é o quarto álbum deles e que foi lançado em 2018. Ao longo das sete faixas que compõem "Interregnum", você vai escutar um death metal soando bastante progressivo musicalmente com harmonias e melodias complexas, resultando em um trabalho bom aos ouvidos. Destaque para as faixas "Interregnum", "Late in the 11th Hour", "Ships of Black Glass" e "The Iron Gates Will Melt". Infelizmente, "Interregnum" também marca o último registro do vocalista Stefan Pettersson (Diskonto, Uncurbed, Embalmed, Eternal Tormentor e Sportlov) que morreu vítima de um câncer. Enfim, obra é eterna e "Interregnum" é um bom álbum. Fica aqui a nossa homenagem a esse grande vocalista.

Usurpress is a Swedish band founded in 2010 and "Interregnum" is their fourth album, which was released in 2018. Throughout the seven tracks that make up "Interregnum", you will hear a death metal sounding fairly progressive musically with harmonies and complex melodies, resulting in a good sound in the ears. Highlight for the tracks "Interregnum", "Late in the 11th Hour", "Ships of Black Glass" and "The Iron Gates Will Melt". Unfortunately, "Interregnum" also marks the last record of vocalist Stefan Pettersson (Diskonto, Uncurbed, Embalmed, Eternal Tormentor and Sportlov) who died of cancer. Anyway, his work is eternal and "Interregnum" is a good album. Here is our homage to this great singer.

Na década passada e início desta, as pessoas e selos usavam um determinado slogan para definir a Hutt: A resposta brasileira a bandas como Nasum, Pig Destroyer e Lock Up!!! Pois bem, com exceção da Lock Up que continua fiel a sua proposta inicial, a Nasum infelizmente não existe mais desde a morte de Mieszko Talarczyk em 2004 (ok, a banda fez algumas apresentações anos atrás como um tributo) e hoje em dia, a Pig Destroyer não toca realmente um grindcore digno como nos seus primeiros registros (fusão com outros estilos musicais). Ou seja, pode-se dizer que esse slogan se mantém vivo, ativo e real, pois a Hutt proferiu mais uma resposta brutal e agressiva chamada "Apocalipster", o terceiro álbum da banda que foi lançado em 2018 pela Black Hole Productions. "Apocalipster" é um álbum explosivo e rápido do início ao fim, já que o mesmo é composto por vinte e cinco faixas que giram em torno de vinte e seis minutos de barulheira extrema do terror. "Apocalipster" também contém elementos bem peculiares em se tratando de Hutt, como as vinhetas hilárias, as letras com temáticas horrendas,  hediondas, controversas e políticas, na qual podem ser classificadas como humor ácido, além é claro, a capa e a arte gráfica inserida no encarte do CD, onde exploram mais uma vez o universo dos quadrinhos (as imagens foram retiradas das revistas Calafrio Edição de Colecionador 1989, Mestres do Terror 53, Almanaque de Histórias Satânicas e Cripta do Terror edições 1, 2 e 3). A Hutt arregaçou brilhantemente neste registro, na qual este álbum soa como uma pedrada na ideia de tão rápido que é (tomou, caiu, levantou e acabou), mas mesmo assim devo destacar os barulhos/letras como "Flores, Velas e Caixão", "Perdedor", "Tico e Teco", "Nasceu Pra Ser Inglês", "Ressurreição Do Rico", "Fume", "Serão os Esquimós Índios em Iglus", "Seja Bem-Vindo ao Circo", "HUTT", "Faniquito Sorumbático", "Danzig In Tha Rain", "Eldorado" (a mais longa com dois minutos), "Shurimburi", "Trágico e Não Letal", "Desempregrind", "Sem Alma Na Alba" e "Medusa". "Apocalipster" foi gravado e mixado no estúdio Da Tribo por Ciero e André Stuchi, com a masterização a cargo de William Blackmoon (Gadget). Pra encerrar, "Apocalipster" é um dos melhores registros de 2018. Grind fodido pra caralho! Hutt: Appezzato (derbão), Liandro (setecorda), André (bonsai) e Marcelo Choukri (bateria - ele apenas gravou as partes de bateria).

In the last decade and beginning of this one, the people and Brazilian distro/labels used a certain slogan to define Hutt: The Brazilian answer to bands like Nasum, Pig Destroyer and Lock Up!!! Well, with the exception of Lock Up, which remains true to its initial proposal, Nasum unfortunately does not exist since the death of Mieszko Talarczyk in 2004 (ok, the band made some presentations years ago as a tribute) and nowadays, Pig Destroyer really does not play grindcore like its first records (they play a mix of musical styles). In other words, this slogan can be said to remain alive, active and real, because Hutt uttered yet another brutal and aggressive answer called "Apocalipster", the band's third album that was released in 2018 by Black Hole Productions. "Apocalipster" is an explosive and fast album from beginning to end, it consists of twenty-five tracks that revolve around twenty-six minutes of extreme noise terror. When it comes to Hutt, "Apocalipster" also contains very peculiar elements, such as hilarious vignettes, horrendous, hideous, controversial, and political lyrics, in which it can be classified as acidic humor (remember: this is in Portuguese), and of course, the cover and the graphic art inserted in the booklet of the CD, where they explore once more the universe of comics (the images were taken from these HQs: Calafrio Edição de Colecionador 1989, Mestres do Terror 53, Almanaque de Histórias Satânicas and Cripta do Terror edições 1, 2 e 3). Hutt destroyed brilliantly in this record, this album sounds like a rock blow to the head so fast it is (exemplifying: a person is hit by a stone in the head. This person falls, gets up and the disc ends), but even so I should highlight the sounds/lyrics as "Flores, Velas e Caixão", "Perdedor", "Tico e Teco", "Nasceu Pra Ser Inglês", "Ressurreição Do Rico", "Fume", "Serão os Esquimós Índios em Iglus", "Seja Bem-Vindo ao Circo", "HUTT", "Faniquito Sorumbático", "Danzig In Tha Rain", "Eldorado" (this track is the longest with two minutes), "Shurimburi", "Trágico e Não Letal", "Desempregrind", "Sem Alma Na Alba" and "Medusa". "Apocalipster" was recorded and mixed at Da Tribo Studio by Ciero and André Stuchi, with mastering by William Blackmoon (Gadget). To close, "Apocalipster" is one of the best records of 2018. Awesome grindfuckingcore! Hutt: Appezzato (vocals), Liandro (seven strings), André (bass) and Marcelo Choukri (drums - he only recorded the drum parts).

Explorando os fatos históricos da Segunda Guerra Mundial, assim como em "Panzer Division Marduk" e "Frontschwein", a Marduk bombardeia e ataca novamente com "Viktoria", o décimo quarto álbum da banda lançado em 2018. "Viktoria" (o título está em alemão) consiste em nove batalhas, onde a realidade da guerra explode nos ouvidos com muito sangue, fumaça, pólvora, destruição, morte e inferno, porém só os vitoriosos permanecem vivos para poder escutar esse artefato. Musicalmente, a Marduk continua destruindo tudo como de costume e "Viktoria" segue no mesmo ritmo de "Frontschwein", porém o álbum anterior é um pouco mais explosivo que "Viktoria". O quarteto se mantém firme e forte desde "Frontschwein", dando sangue e raça, mas devo destacar a performance do baterista Fredrik Widigs, esse cara é um animal. As faixas que mais se destacam em "Viktoria" são "June 44", "Equestrian Bloodlust", "Narva" (refrão forte), "Viktoria" e "The Devil's Song". Devido a algumas polêmicas, acusações e boicotes neste últimos anos envolvendo a Marduk, resolvi compartilhar o conhecimento em relação aos títulos de algumas músicas. Encarando essa obra como uma liberdade artística, assim como um filme ou livro, na qual o artista tem o papel de informar e transmitir aos ouvintes os relatos sobre o passado e não uma apologia ou doutrinação ao nazimo, fascismo e totalitarismo. Lembrando que os ex-membros da Marduk (Bogge e Fredrik Andersson) tiveram um projeto chamado Moment Maniacs com membros da Anti Cimex e Wolfpack (Jonsson e Jocke) e Morgan tem uma banda punk chamada Death Wolf e constantemente ele usa uma camisa da Wolfbrigade (o antigo Wolfpack). "Werwolf": o lobisomem era o plano dos nazistas para atacar as forças Aliadas conforme avançavam o território alemão; "June 44": o Dia D (6 de junho de 1944) entrou para a história quando as tropas Aliadas desembarcaram nas praias de Normandia na França para a grande ofensiva contra as tropas nazistas. A Operação Overload foi a maior invasão por mar da história; "Equestrian Bloodlust": pântano de Pripet foi o codinome da operação punitiva conduzida pelas forças alemãs em 1941 nos territórios da Bielorrússia e Ucrânia. Isso é considerado a primeira operação planejada de extermínio em massa de judeus conduzida pelos nazistas. Florian Geyer foi o nome dado a 8.ª Divisão de Cavalaria SS; "Tiger I": é um tanque pesado alemão da Segunda Guerra Mundial e implantado em 1942 na África e Europa; "Narva": é uma cidade da Estônia que foi palco para um banho de sangue e carnificina. Em 1944, as forças soviéticas e alemãs travaram duras batalhas em solo estoniano, resultando em pesadas baixas para ambos os lados. Os estonianos alimentavam a esperança que a guerra conduzisse à restauração da independência da Estônia; "Viktoria": a letra cita a empresa de aço Krupp, responsável pela fabricação de armas para o exército nazista; "The Devil's Song": existe uma canção de marcha das Waffen-SS chamada "Teufelslied" (canção dos diabos, the devil's song), na qual o lema era lutar até a morte. A letra original também declarava abertamente que a SS destruiria a peste vermelha (URSS). Com as últimas balas, na última rodada, as forças do Eixo foram derrotadas no conflito final e a Marduk venceu a sua guerra em 2018 com o álbum "Viktoria". Muito bom!

Exploring the historical facts of World War II, as in "Panzer Division Marduk" and "Frontschwein", Marduk bombards and attacks again with "Viktoria", the band's fourteenth album released in 2018. "Viktoria" (the title is in German) consists of nine battles, where the reality of war explodes in the ears with much blood, smoke, gunpowder, destruction, death and hell, but only the victors remain alive to hear this artifact. Musically, Marduk continues to destroy everything as usual and "Viktoria" follows the same rhythm as "Frontschwein", but the previous album is a bit more explosive than "Viktoria". The quartet has remained firm and strong since "Frontschwein", giving blood and sweat, but I must highlight the performance of drummer Fredrik Widigs, this guy is incredible. The tracks that stand out most in "Viktoria" are "June 44", "Equestrian Bloodlust", "Narva" (strong chorus), "Viktoria" and "The Devil's Song". Due to some controversy, accusations and boycotts in recent years involving Marduk, I decided to share the knowledge regarding the titles of some songs. Considering this work as an artistic freedom, as well as a film or book, in which the artist has the role of informing and transmitting to the listeners the stories about the past and not an apology or indoctrination of Nazism, Fascism and Totalitarianism. Remember that former members of Marduk (Bogge and Fredrik Andersson) had a project called Moment Maniacs with members of Anti Cimex and Wolfpack (Jonsson and Jocke) and Morgan has a punk band called Death Wolf and constantly uses a Wolfbrigade shirt (the old Wolfpack). "Werewolf": this was the plan of the Nazis to attack the Allied forces as they advanced the German territory; "June 44": D-Day (June 6, 1944) entered history as Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy in France for the big offense against Nazi troops. Operation Overload was the largest sea invasion in history; "Equestrian Bloodlust": Pripet swamp or Pripet marsh was the codename of the punitive operation conducted by the German forces in 1941 in the territories of Belarus and Ukraine. This is considered to be the first planned operation of mass extermination of Jews conducted by the Nazis. Florian Geyer was the name given to the 8th SS Cavalry Division; "Tiger I": is a German heavy tank of World War II and deployed in 1942 in Africa and Europe; "Narva": is a city of Estonia that was the stage for a bloodbath and carnage. In 1944, Soviet and German forces fought hard on Estonian soil, resulting in heavy casualties on both sides. The Estonians nourished the hope that the war would lead to the restoration of Estonia's independence; "Viktoria": the lyrics quotes the steel company Krupp, responsible for the manufacture of weapons for the Nazi army; "The Devil's Song": there is a Waffen-SS march song called "Teufelslied" (devil's song), in which the motto was to fight to the death. The original lyrics also openly declared that the SS would destroy the red plague (USSR). With the last bullets, in the last round, the Axis powers were defeated in the final conflict and Marduk won his war in 2018 with the album "Viktoria". Very good!

Com uma nova formação, a Klamor está de volta com uma nova demo. A Klamor soa death/thrash metal de maneira agressiva e grosseira nos vinte minutos que compõem está demo. Bom! With a new line-up, Klamor is back with a new demo. Klamor sounds death/thrash metal in an aggressive and crude way in the twenty minutes that compose this demo. Good! KURGAN / REGRESSOR - SPLIT

A Kurgan se apresenta com sete faixas neste split e o som feito por eles está mais metalizado que nos outros dois registros anteriores. Independente disso, eu gostei pra caralho do resultado final, já que é uma mistura infernal de death/thrash/black metal com crust. Destaque para as faixas "In Search Of Impenetrable Dimensions" e "Lucifer". A Regressor é na verdade a Distürbia Cladis (os caras apenas mudaram de nome) e eles tocam speed metal bem na linha da Em Ruínas. Com quatro faixas neste split, eu destaco "Morrer" como a melhor música da Regressor. A arte de capa foi feita pelo Humberto. Da hora!

Kurgan presents seven tracks in this split and their sound is more metalized than in the other two previous records. Regardless, I really enjoyed the final result, it's a hell of a mix of death/thrash/black metal with crust. Highlight for the tracks "In Search Of Impenetrable Dimensions" and "Lucifer". Regressor is actually Distürbia Cladis (the guys just changed their name) and they play speed metal right in the line of the Brazilian band Em Ruínas. With four tracks in this split, I highlight "Morrer" as the best Regressor song. Artwork by Humberto. So cool!

"Human Disaster Never Ending" foi lançado em 2017 e de fato, este é o melhor registro da Extinction Remains até o momento. Composto por quatro faixas, "Human Disaster Never Ending" descreve em suas letras o funeral da humanidade através da destruição do meio ambiente, desastres, ganância por dinheiro, câncer, sementes transgênicas e a vingança da natureza contra o homem. Por último, a Extinction Remains é uma excelente banda e eles estão no mesmo nível que as novas bandas americanas de death metal que vem se destacando no underground.


"Human Disaster Never Ending" was released in 2017 and in fact, this is the best record of Extinction Remains so far. Composed of four tracks, "Human Disaster Never Ending" describes in its lyrics the funeral of humanity through the destruction of the environment, disasters, greed for money, cancer, transgenic seeds and the revenge of nature against the men. Finally, Extinction Remains is an excellent band and they are on the same level as the new American death metal bands that have been standing out in the underground.

UNDER THE SUN - SELF TITLED

Under The Sun... tanto a Black Sabbath quanto a Anti Cimex já gravaram uma música com este mesmo título (cada banda tem a sua versão), ou seja, duas bandas excelentes, eternas e que são indiretamente ou diretamente as influências da Under The Sun da Grécia. Bem, a Under The Sun é um novo projeto formado por membros de bandas como Forgotten Prophecy, Industrial Suicide, Tantalum e Hellstorm e o som deles é crust misturado com thrash metal, algo bem próximo que a Guided Cradle fez na década passada. Em suma, esse primeiro registro é muito bom. Ah sim, uma dica: assista o "The Day The Earth Stood Still", pois a introdução foi retirada desse filme.


Under The Sun... both Black Sabbath and Anti Cimex have recorded a song with this same title (each band has its own version), that is, two excellent, eternal bands that are indirectly or directly the influences of Under The Sun from Greece. Well, Under The Sun is a new project made up of members of bands like Forgotten Prophecy, Industrial Suicide, Tantalum and Hellstorm and their sound is crust mixed with thrash metal, something very close to what Guided Cradle performed in the last decade. In short, this first record is very good. Oh yeah, a tip: watch "The Day The Earth Stood Still", because the intro was taken from that movie.
